Bonefish Excursion
by Ann Marie Gardner

On June 7, ten of the HSC members received an extravagant treat. Aaron Sharp at the Bonefish Grill provided an "Excursion" for our group as a way of showing the restaurant and owners' appreciation to us for the support we give to our husbands who are doing the soldier work in Iraq and elsewhere. all of us who were able to participate had a wonderful evening of excellent food and creative libations, all on the house.

Our table was set in the back so we could make noise and our servers began with cocktails and a variety of -tinis (apple, chocolate, etc) as well as one of everything from their appetizer menu. Those of us who have visited the restaurant before made sure they brought out extra helpings of the Bang Bang Shrimp. If you visit the restaurant don't leave without tasting those!

Other appezizers were mussels, crab cakes, sesama tuna sushi with a vodka chaser, corn crab chowder, several salads, and soft shell crab (a first for some at the table). Following that, we had five different in-season fresh entrees; fish brought from the waters from Chile to Iceland. Personally, I recommend the Chilean sea bass; tastes sweet like a fist-sized scallop. They also have a delightful take on side dishes, including bacon-sprinkled yellow corn and garlic potatoes.

The restaurant is known mostly for its sauces. While many restaurants promote what they cook, Bonefish is proud of their three original, and changing sauces that they use to cook multiple dishes. All of their meals are improved by citrus or ginger or another kind of exotic flavoring or reduction.

And our expert servers were on top of the progressive wine list to make sure we had the perfect combination of colors, flavors, and boldness in our wine choices to compliment our meal. Matt Lennon, who is also part owner/manager of the restaurant saw to it that we were spoiled rotten for the full three hours.

Topped off of course with five or six decadent desserts, the meal lasted a good three hours and we were pampered every minute. The Excursion is designed to promote the restaurant selections and entice us to come back with our spouses or families. No problem there. I think all the ladies will think of the Bonefish whenever family, guests, or special occasions warrant a night out in Savannah.

We are extremely grateful for our great night out and wish the Grille all the best of success in their business. They are located in the Twelve Oaks Shopping Center on Abercorn and they are well worth the drive.
